There are hundreds of tarns in the Lake District. Some of them have dried up or become overgrown with vegetation. Others are on private land and so inaccessible. This Venture is to visit the remaining 240+.
The tarns have been grouped into regions that reflect Wainwright's regional pictorial guides. The following additional regions have also been included:
ConWin Corridor - the area bounded by Coniston Water, Lake Windermere, the River Crake and the River Leven
South Eastern - the area to the east of Lake Windermere and bounded by Ambleside to Kendal in the north
